Overview & When to Use

What this feature does

Filtering by Location provides location-scoped views throughout Manage Comics, allowing you to filter customers, products, orders, and reports by specific store locations. The system automatically scopes data to your selected location while providing options to view all locations when needed.

Important Browser Considerations

Manage Comics uses sessions and cookies to maintain your location selection. Having multiple tabs open with different locations will cause unreliable results. If you need to have more than one location open at a time, you should consider having separate browser profiles for each location.  (See our suggestions at the end of this article for using browser profiles to view multiple locations).

When to use it

  • When managing customers for a specific store location

  • When viewing reports or data for individual locations

  • When you need to switch between location-specific and global views

Prerequisites

  • Multiple locations configured in your system

  • Location assigned to your user account

Key terms

  • Location Filter – Dropdown or toggle to select specific locations

  • All Locations – Filter option to view data across all store locations

  • Location-Scoped View – Data filtered to show only the selected location

How to Use Filtering by Location

Step-by-step

Selecting a Location

  1. Use the location dropdown in the navigation header to select your desired location.

  2. Notice the header background color changes to reflect the selected location.

  3. All data views will now be scoped to the selected location.

  4. Your selection is automatically saved as a cookie for future sessions.

Viewing Location-Specific Data

  1. Navigate to any section (Customers, Products, Orders, Reports).

  2. Data will automatically be filtered to show only information for your selected location.

  3. Look for location indicators in page headers or data tables.

  4. Export functions will respect your current location filter.

Switching to All Locations View

  1. In sections that support it, look for an All Locations filter option.

  2. Select All Locations from the filter dropdown.

  3. Data will now show information from all store locations.

  4. Use this view when you need to oversee operations across all locations.

Searching Within Location Context

  1. Use search functions while a specific location is selected.

  2. Search results will only display items for the currently selected location.

  3. Switch to All Locations view to search across all locations.

  4. Customer searches are automatically scoped to the selected location.

What you should see

  • Header background color changes based on selected location

  • Location name displayed in the navigation header

  • Data filtered to show only items for the selected location

  • Location filter options in relevant sections

  • Export files containing only data from the selected location (unless "All Locations" is selected)

  • Export functions respect your current location filter settings

  • Customer searches are automatically scoped to your selected location

  • Switch locations frequently to manage multiple stores efficiently

Troubleshooting

  • Can't see location dropdown – Ensure you have multiple locations configured and proper permissions

  • Data not filtering by location – Check that you've selected a specific location (not "All Locations")

  • Location not showing in dropdown – Verify the location is active in Shopify and properly assigned

  • Export includes all locations when you want specific location – Check that you haven't selected "All Locations" filter

  • Header color not changing – Verify the location has a banner color set in location settings

  • Multiple tabs showing different data – Use separate browser profiles for each location to avoid conflicts
